Flaim is looking for a Data Centre EPMS Engineer.
 
The EPMS Engineer will work as part of a campus wide operational team who support the critical environment 24/7/365. The EPMS engineer will provide technical and application support to all internal CE staff of the company and client engineers across the AMS campus on the EPMS. This includes new installs, retrofits or modifications, fault finding, commissioning, maintenance and projects. The EPMS engineer will be the main point of contact for any day to day items or emergency escalations relating to any EPMS equipment across the campus. This role is a senior engineer role, so she/he is responsible for the training and development of all users engineers/technicians within the campus.
 
 
The EPMS engineer will report directly into the Technical Supervisor Electrical (TSE) in AMS CAMPUS and work closely together with the clients CEIPM (Critical Environment Instrumentation Program Manager).
 
 
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the main point of contact relating to the Data Centre EPMS across the campus for the client & companies CE Team.
  • Have an technical supervision of the operation planned maintenance and repair of all EPMS related critical environment systems while maintaining 100% uptime to all related critical systems.
  • Have full overview & awareness of all activities impacting the EPMS and, in conjunction with the CE Teams, prioritize these activitiesand keep all stakeholders updated.
  • Support engineering of new controls solutions, driving quality and standardization initiatives across the campus.
  • Work with the site Electrical Supervisors (TSE’s) to follow up and close out on all EPMS issues raised by the CE Team’s through daily shift reports and CMMS open WO’s.
  • Assist with campus wide energy efficiency (PUE) monitoring.
  • Review subcontractor method statements, risk assessments and MSDS for any EPMS related works to ensure compliance with site health & safety and operating procedures prior to you or the site CE team issuing permit to works.
  • Adherence to all quality, health & safety, and environmental policies within the data centre domain.
  • Develop all EPMS related procedures including EOPs, SOPs, MOPs, DRILLS for the Campus. All documentation will be standardised across the campus and should be consistent with current client standards.
  • Author, Peer review, approve or carry out periodic reviews of all operational documentation (like EOP’s, Drills etc.) as issued by the CE operation & QA analyst.
  • Provide detailed reports for any/all incidents on site relating to the EPMS. Reports must be completed on the correct template & sent to the companies supervisory & Management team. These reports are used as lessons learnt & can feed into a wider report to the client or companies management.
  • Support client in creating site specific reports based on historical data.
  • Deliver site specific EPMS and controls training to the CE team as required.
  • Be the point of contact for any external vendor training relating to the EPMS, manage the content, quality and successful delivery of that training to the CE team on site.
  • Provide ongoing training & mentorship of any other site EPMS Engineers/Technicians to progress and develop their knowledge and skillset on the campus EPMS systems.
  • Develop details training plans for campus EPMS Engineers to follow and aid their progression and knowledge around the site EPMS, helping them progress and gain in depth knowledge on the systems.
  • Work with the site technical supervisors electrical to agree on any site-specific training requirements that need to be captured and documented correctly.
  • Report health and safety breaches through the ‘HAZARD’ process.
  • Carry out drills & complete tool box talks as per KPI tracker.
  • Use CMMS to report all your facility related tasks – This includes recording all hours on site for the likes of training, DRA’s, Procedure creation/reviews, vendor escorts, work performance etc.
  • Ensure you always wear the companies uniform including appropriate PPE as issued and thatthe professional image of the company is presented to clients and visitors at all times while on site.
  • Undertake other tasks as defined and requested by local management.
  • Develop a good working relationship with all members of staff and the client representatives.
  • Assist commissioning team on testing and delivering new EPMS systems.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience in programming, development, start up, and commissioning of SCADA/PLC/DCS systems. Electrical Power Monitoring Systems experience is a plus.
  • Data centre environment experience is a plus.
  • Experience at electrical/mechanical technician level.
  • Experienced with industrial communication protocols like Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, BacNet etc.
  • Strong computer skills based on Windows operating systems.
  • Knowledge of SQL databases.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • An excellent understanding and experience of the electrical and mechanical and control systems used in a critical environment, including: Generators, UPS systems, ATS and STS systems, Fuel Systems, Air Handling Units, Variable Frequency Drives (VSDs), Fire Alarm systems, and Fire Suppression systems (pre-action sprinklers).
  • An ability to read & interpret complex automatic control logic & systems, programmable logic controllers (PLC’s), EPMS logics, and their integration within a critical environment.
  • An ability to read & interpret electrical control wiring diagrams including relay logic.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate intelligently and effectively with the client and with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on the data centre systems.
  • Computer literate with the ability to compile and submit monthly and annual reports, and to monitor and trend operational characteristics (load, capacity, environmental conditions etc.).
  • Strong and committed team player with excellent communication and coaching skills. Previous experience of supervising highly qualified Technicians and reporting to peers and senior managers.
  • Willingness to work outside of normal hours to resolve technical issues in a 24/7 industry, especially in the delivery of EPMS related projects on time or to support requirements dictated by the rhythm of the business.
  • The ability to learn quickly and to gain maximum benefit from extensive training and development programmes aimed at ensuring that any identified knowledge or experience deficiencies are addressed in the short term.
  • Knowledge of high voltage electrical systems is a plus.
  • Experience with Health & Safety Risk Assessments and Control Measures.
  • Organized, able to effectively prioritize and deliver within a dynamic and high pressure, business critical environments.
  • Able to contribute effectively within the team, be a team player being able to work with companies staff and client’s staff of all levels.
  • Ability to work under pressure, with changing, and often conflicting, priorities to meet deadlines.
